Kelly made this Official Information request to Ministry of Education
Currently waiting for a response from Ministry of Education, they must respond promptly and normally no later than (details and exceptions).
From: Kelly
Tēnā koutou,
Under the Official Information Act 1982, I am requesting the following information regarding gender representation in the public education sector in Aotearoa New Zealand:
The percentage of teachers who identify as female in each of the following sectors:
Primary schools
Intermediate schools
Secondary schools
Of those female teachers, the percentage or ratio who hold middle management positions, such as team leaders, syndicate leaders, curriculum leaders, or Heads of Department (HoDs), disaggregated by sector (primary/intermediate/secondary) if possible.
If this data is tracked over time, I would also appreciate a comparison with figures from five years ago to identify any trends.
This information will help inform ongoing conversations about gender equity, representation and pay in leadership and middle management pathways for female educators. If any clarification is needed to process this request, I would be happy to assist.
Ngā mihi nui
Kelly
