Dear New Zealand Defence Force,
Under the provisions of the Official Information Act 1982, I request information regarding the total number of vacancies in uniformed roles across all armed services. Specifically, I would like to know:
1. The total number of vacancies broken down by department or unit.
2. The number of vacancies at each rank within these units.
3. How long these vacancies have been open (i.e less than 3 months, 6 months, 12+ months).
4. The percentage of vacancies relative to the total workforce in each unit.
If this request is unclear, or if you are unable to provide the information requested, I am happy to amend my request.

Good afternoon,
The Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) requires that a decision on your request be provided no later than 20 working days after the day your request was received. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and this email is to notify you of an extension of the time to make a decision, to Thursday 17 April.
This extension is necessary because consultations necessary to make a decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit.
You retain the right, under section 28(3) of the OIA, to ask an Ombudsman to review the decision to extend your request.
