Travel expenses to Waitangi

A Parkins made this Official Information request to Hutt City Council

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for A Parkins to read recent responses and update the status.

From: A Parkins

Dear Hutt City Council,

I am aware from Mayor Barry’s social media posts that he has travelled to Waitangi Treaty grounds, over Waitangi 2025. I have also been made aware of his travel to the same location in 2024.

I would like to know what, if any, council funding was used for flights, travel, meal allowances, accommodation and sundries, for the Mayor, any councilors, staff, partners or other accompanying people.

If these costs were met by another public organization, I would like to know this.

If any council funding was used, what outcomes have been achieved as a result of this expenditure, that can be directly connected to outcomes for ratepayers, that could not have been attained by not attending.

The Treaty of Waitangi is core to New Zealand's place in the world, and a very important document for New Zealand. There is no question that the treaty has its place in Hutt City Councils decision making.
(I would also encourage any New Zealander to travel to the treaty grounds at some point over thier life.)

Yours faithfully,
Andy Parkins
