Request for Information – Local Government Official Information and Meetings
Act (the Act) 1987
We refer to your official information request dated 10 February 2025 for:
I am aware from Mayor Barry’s social media posts that he has travel ed to
Waitangi Treaty grounds, over Waitangi 2025. I have also been made aware
of his travel to the same location in 2024.
I would like to know what, if any, council funding was used for flights, travel,
meal al owances, accommodation and sundries, for the Mayor, any
councilors, staff, partners or other accompanying people. If these costs
were met by another public organization, I would like to know this.
Response:
The Mayor visited Waitangi in his role as Vice President of Local Government
New Zealand (LGNZ). Al costs were covered by LGNZ.
