I am seeking information in regard to the earthquake damage assessment and repair strategy in for the property situated at 28 Malta Crescent, South Brighton, Christchurch.
Of particular interest is the geotechnical assessment of the underlying land and the repair strategy for the property.

Information request - 28 Malta Crescent, South New Brighton, Christchurch

Thank you for your information request received on 30 December 2024. You
asked for “to the earthquake damage assessment and repair strategy in for
the property situated at 28 Malta Crescent, South Brighton, Christchurch.

Of particular interest is the geotechnical assessment of the underlying
land and the repair strategy for the property.” in relation to 28 Malta
Crescent. Your request has been considered under the Official Information
Act (OIA).

 

After an extensive search of our systems, I can confirm that there are no
geotechnical assessments for the above-mentioned property. As this
information does not exist, I am unable to provide you a copy as per
section 18(e) of the OIA and section 53(a) of the PA.

 

Your enclosed response contains documentation relating to how any/all
dwelling claims were assessed and settled for the requested property.
These have been provided under the following claim summary divider(s): 

 

o Cash Settled 
o Land   

 

If you believe anything specific is missing, or if you have any questions
about the claim information provided, please contact us so we can discuss
your requirements.  

 

In accordance with the provisions of section 141(2) of the Natural Hazards
Insurance Act 2023, I have included NHC Toka Tū Ake documentation relating
to the assessments and repairs carried out at the property, which contains
information held on unassigned claim numbers. The claim owner has not
provided authority for you to have access to the claims, however, pursuant
to section 141 (4) (a-b) you have a public interest to receive information
relating to natural hazard damage to the property. 

 

To protect the privacy of the respective owners, I have withheld
information relating to the previous homeowners under section 9(2)(a) of
the OIA and section 53(b) of the PA.  

   

The enabling works documents are a generalised guide for Toka Tū Ake NHC
as to the estimated costs that may be incurred once a property has been
confirmed as increased risk of liquefaction/flooding.  They are for
reference purposes only and do not necessarily reflect the actual works
for a specific property, nor do they reflect an actual settlement figure
for the land claim.

 

You have the option of approaching the Office of the Ombudsman and/or
