I refer to your request of 20 November 2024.  The University’s response
follows:

the following University of Auckland papers. Could the following
statistics please be provided under the Official Information Act

(1) Final grade distribution (broken down grade by grade, e.g., A+, A,
etc.).

(2) The mean numerical mark.

(3) The median numerical mark.

(4) The number of students who completed the following courses:

With respect to parts 2. and 3. of your request, the University does not
hold final mark statistics.  Grades, not marks, are the University’s final
measure of academic assessment.

Marks are used for initial calculation of grades (see
[1]https://cdn.auckland.ac.nz/assets/auckla...)
but grades may be subsequently changed for various reasons, such as
aegrotat/compassionate consideration or academic misconduct.

This constitutes a refusal of this part of your request under section
18(g) of the OIA.

The information requested in parts 1. and 4. of your request, are
attached.

You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are
dissatisfied with this response.

Yours sincerely,

Farleigh Quinlivan
