Kia ora Brendon,
The Parliamentary Service has taken on this information request as we
support members of Parliament. We are not subject to the OIA, however we
try to keep within the spirit of the act whenever we can.
You have asked us:
“Can you please advise how much public money Collected from Taxes goes
into funding Members Of Parliament including the Prime Minister and his
office Held in New Zealand…”
Members of Parliament are funded in a variety of ways to allow them to
fulfil their roles of representing their constituents. As part of their
role as legislators, members are expected to engage with their
communities, communicate policy, and advocate on their behalf. In
recognition of this they are given the necessary tools and corporate
services that allow them to do so via the Parliamentary Service. Costs
relating to the Service are available via their annual report which is
published online

Other direct funding sources are contained in legislation or secondary
legislation and are public information. Some of the key funding documents
you may be interested in include:
o Members’ salaries are determined by the Renumeration Authority:

o Funding for staff and office expenses for members and parties is
determined by the Speakers Directions:

o Members’ accommodation and travel expenses are determined by the
Members of Parliament (Accommodation Services for Members and Travel
Services for Family Members) Act
2024: [4]https://www.parliament.nz/en/pb/parliame...
Ministers have additional needs and additional funding sources. Most of
this information is publicly available. The Determinations and Directions
webpage on the Parliament website contains a number of links to funding
