Information on NZ businesses by BIC codes
Lawrence Simons made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment
The request was partially successful.
      From: Lawrence Simons

Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,
I would like to make a request under the Official Information Act for specific information on the Business Industry Classification (BIC) codes.
We require the following information for ALL BIC codes:
1) BIC Code
2) BIC Descriptor
3) Company Status: e.g., removed, registered, or liquidated
4) Company Legal Name and/or Partnership
5) Company Registration Number (7-Digits)
6) NZBN
7) Director(s) and/or Owner(s) of the business
8) Trading Name
9) Contact Details
a. Email
b. Phone
10) Full Address Details (Unit and Street Number, Street Name, Suburb, City, Post Code)
a. Physical Location
b. Postal Address
I appreciate that this is a lot of information to be sent in one document, so I am open to it being sent in more than one email. I would also like to request that all information for each entity, if possible, is collated on one line within one spreadsheet and not individually broken down to for example, BIC codes on 1 list, Company status on another. It would be as I have said OK to break the Total information onto multiple spreadsheets, possibly on a regional basis of the main regions or on postcodes.
We assure you that the information we seek is only for legitimate business purposes and will be treated confidentially.
We recognize the importance of following the Official Information Act, and we look forward to receiving a fast response to our request. Please let us know if there are any specific protocols or criteria we should follow during this process, and we will gladly comply.
We appreciate your help and cooperation in supplying the needed information.
Yours faithfully,
Lawrence Simons
