Dear University of Auckland,
Please provide a list of all University clubs and their funding allocation. I would also like a copy of all funding grant requests provided by Case Club, and the Business School's Case Programme initiative. Please also provide a breakdown of funding allocations to Case Club and Case Programme including, but not limited to, related overseas competitions.
Yours faithfully,
Cooper O'Neil

Dear Cooper,
I refer to your request of 24 June 2024. The University’s response
follows.
“Please provide a list of all University clubs and their funding
allocation. I would also like a copy of all funding grant requests
provided by Case Club, and the Business School's Case Programme
initiative. Please also provide a breakdown of funding allocations to Case
Club and Case Programme including, but not limited to, related overseas
competitions.”
All University clubs are listed on the University’s website by category
at:
[1]https://www.auckland.ac.nz/en/on-campus/....
Total Club grant funding administered in 2024, as at 2 July 2024, is
provided in the attached spreadsheet (2024-OIA-0135-O'Neil Attachment A).
Case Club has not made any University funding requests, or been allocated
any University funding, for 2024. The Business School’s Case Programme
similarly has not made any University funding requests or been allocated
any University funding for 2024. The Business School has provided the
following information about the Case Programme:
“The Business School's Case Programme is an extracurricular programme
which aims to provide a transformational experience to students,
developing leadership and critical thinking skills -- as well as bridge to
the business world. As this is an extracurricular programme, there is no
flow of funding from the broader university towards the programme, and
thus no funding grant requests are made (no student tuition fees or grant
funding is used). Instead, the programme is funded by a mixture of: alumni
donations, corporate sponsorship and support, and donations from students
partaking in the activities. Similarly for international travel, costs are
funded by a student contribution from the students who are travelling,
with the reminder provided by alumni and corporate funding. The programme
must thus succeed in delivering a great experience to its students and
value to corporate sponsors to continue to fund itself.”
The University’s response constitutes a partial refusal under the
following sections of the OIA: 18(d), where the information requested is
publicly available, and 18(g), where the information requested is not held
by the University. You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman
if you are dissatisfied with the University’s response.
Yours sincerely,
Landon Watt
