Ministry of Transport
Dear Peter
I refer to your email dated 27 May 2024, requesting the following under
the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
“Could you please provide an up-to-date breakdown of expenditure in
2023/24 including:
-travel expenses
-contractors
-consultants
-learning and development
-Te Tiriti training
-Te Reo training
-Any other sensitive expenditure
Where possible, please break this information down by provider including a
summary of the service provide, the reason that a particular provider was
chosen and all correspondence outlining the decision-making process?”
In the second part of your request, you have requested copies of all
correspondence outlining the decision-making process. The Ministry has
large number of contractors and consultants. In order to respond to your
request, it would require the Ministry to gather documents and
correspondence from a number of places such as individual procurement
folders and staff email accounts who were part of the decision-making
process during the finalisation of the contracts. This would require
significant effort.
However, we would be able to provide you with details around the standard
procurement processes followed at the Ministry. Could you please confirm
if you are comfortable with this approach.
Please note that if you are not comfortable with the approach above and
wish to proceed with the request as it stands, we will need to consider
refusing that part of your request under section 18(f) of the Act that the
requested information cannot be made available without substantial
collation and research.
Could you please provide your response as soon as possible.
Kind regards
Te Manatû Waka Ministry of Transport
