Since the implementation of the Prostitution Reform Act 2003, how many resident visa holders have been deported (or become liabile for deportation) because they operate, manage, own, be a director of or invest in a commercial sex business.

Please provide a breakdowns for
(1) each year since the Prostitution Reform Act implemented.
(2) In each year, please also show the breakdown of the type of resident visas, such as SMC, partner resident visa etc.
(3) how many of them were liabile for deportation and how many of them were actually deported.

Dear John,

 

On behalf of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment I
acknowledge your email of 6 May 2024 requesting under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following:

 

‘Since the implementation of the Prostitution Reform Act 2003, how many
resident visa holders have been deported (or become liabile for
deportation) because they operate, manage, own, be a director of or invest
in a commercial sex business.

Please provide a breakdowns for

(1) each year since the Prostitution Reform Act implemented.

(2) In each year, please also show the breakdown of the type of resident
visas, such as SMC, partner resident visa etc.

(3) how many of them were liabile for deportation and how many of them
were actually deported.’

 

We will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible, and no
later than 4 June 2024, being 20 working days after the day your request
was received. If we are unable to respond to your request by then, we will
notify you of an extension of that timeframe.
