Advice on Rules Reduction Taskforce

Dear Minister of Local Government,

Under the Official Information Act, I request all Cabinet papers, departmental briefings, aides memoire, and other advice of any kind generated by or for your office or the Department of Internal Affairs, concerning the creation and constitution of the Rules Reduction Taskforce, including but not limited to:
- The timeframe for the Taskforce's activities;
- The scope of the Taskforce's mandate or terms of reference; and
- Advice and decision documents regarding appointments to the Taskforce.

I also request any instructions or advice or requests to or from you, your office or the Department of Internal Affairs regarding:
- The location of the Taskforce's public meetings; and
- The personnel hosting the meetings.

In respect of the second part of this request, if no such information is held by your office please transfer any relevant parts of this request to the Department of Internal Affairs within 10 working days in accordance with s 14 of the Official Information Act.

Otherwise, please respond to this request as soon as reasonably practicable (and in any case no later than 20 working days) in accordance with s 15 of the Act.

Dear Mrs Beauchamp

 

Further to your Official Information Act request of 20 April 2015
regarding the Rules Reduction Taskforce, I write to ask if you could
please call me on 04 817 6815 to discuss the scope of the request.  The
Department of Internal Affairs advises there is a large volume of material
potentially covered by the current scope and this will take some time to
assess.  If you are able to narrow the scope this would mitigate any need
to extend the time limit.

Dear Alessandro Aduso,

Can you please indicate what part of the request is generating the most material? I suspect it is the second part of the request. I clarify that I'm not interested in the nuts and bolts of the organisation of each individual meeting; more whether there were any general instructions to DIA about who was to host the meetings and where they were to be hosted.

It is difficult for me to call as I work nights and am normally sleeping during working hours. If there is some other aspect of the request troubling you it is easiest to email me.

Thank you for your email of 10 May clarifying your OIA request of 20 April
2015.

 

This will help us focus our efforts on your particular areas of interest.
Notwithstanding, the request necessitates a search through a large
quantity of information and it is necessary to extend the timeframe for a
response to your request by 5 working days to 26 May 2015, under section
15A of the Official Information Act 1982.

 

You have the right , under section 28(3) of the Act, to make a complaint
to an Ombudsman about the extension.
