Information on the Zero.govt.nz service

Jim Parsons made this Official Information request to Ministry of Education

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Jim Parsons to read a recent response and update the status.

From: Jim Parsons

Dear Ministry of Education,

Request 1 - Please provide an architectural overview of the zero.govt.nz service which I believe was designed and is run by your department.

Request 2 - I would like to review any security assessments that were undertaken for this service, whether it be pre or post public launch.

Request 3 - Please provide an overview of how much this service is costing, including who is paying for the service (i.e are costs passed on to other government departments), and how much has been spent on the service so far (running costs, not initial setup costs).

Thank you for your assistance.

Yours faithfully,

Jim Parsons

Dear Ministry of Education,

Thank you for your response and the information provided.

I have a few further questions.

One - Can you please provide information about where the zero.govt.nz services are hosted within Azure. For example, are they in a DMZ network, which would be logically isolated from other internal services.

Two - Can you provide a list of all top-level domain names that have been accessed from the zero.govt.nz service in the last 6 months, as well as the number of bytes transmitted/received OR number of requests. To clarify, for top level domain, I would group www.youtube.com under youtube.com, and www.facebook.com or web.facebook.com under facebook.com. If this data is not available in the requested format, then a list of raw domain names and number of bytes or requests would be sufficient.

Three - In regards to the penetration test that you have mentioned has taken place, are you able to provide a brief summary of risks identified. You should be able to provide this information, assuming all risks have been mitigated.

Yours sincerely,

Jim
