What Information held by the Renumeration Authority will it answer OIA requests on?

Will Howard made this Official Information request to Remuneration Authority

The request was successful.

From: Will Howard

Dear Remuneration Authority,

Given your response to my previous request, that communication between Rt Hon Prime Minister John Key regarding MP wage increases could not be published due to Section 9 (1) of the Remuneration Authority Act 1977, and that the Renumeration Authority is explicitly covered by Schedule 1 of the Official Information Act 1982, are there any areas/matters that the Renumeration Authority feels it will be able to answer information requests on without violating the requirement for secrecy under Section 9 (1)?

Yours faithfully,

Will Howard, EPSOM.

Dear Remuneration Authority,

Just a quick followup,
I understand the nature of my question was broad, but I would appreciate a response to my previous OIA request.
By law, the authority should normally have responded promptly and by April 07, 2015, even if just to deny my request.

Yours faithfully,

Will Howard

Dear Mr Howard

I apologise for my late reply. I misunderstood the nature of your request by thinking it was a general inquiry rather than an OIA request. As stated in the previous correspondence, members and staff of the Authority are clearly bound by section 9 of the Remuneration Authority Act 1977. The Authority
does have a website where it informs the public of its functions and outlines the processes it uses. The Authority also sets out in the explanatory notes to the determinations it issues information relating to those determinations.

Official information requests are considered on a case by case basis and the Authority will always be guided by the provisions of its Act.

Yours sincerely
