Please provide a list of all the projects completed by Bodeker Scientific that NIWA has provided partial of full funding for since 2006

Please include

Name of Project
Funding - Fully funded by NIWA or associated entities or Partially funded by NIWA or associated entities
Total Funding Provided
Itemised List of invoices associated with the project and what the costs were for

Please note the following projects were funded by NIWA and maybe more

Mapping Air Pollution Emissions
Snow Ice and Glaciers
Sulfate Aerosols over the Southern Ocean
Testing the NZESM through a single vertical column
Loon
Validating NZESM
Clouds and Aerosols
Future Extreme Weather in NZ

This is to advise you that we require an extension in the number of working days and will send you the information by 6 February 2024 (or before this date if possible). Unfortunately your request is with a staff member who is away on Christmas leave through to the end of January 2024.

Would you please be able to clarify your request – is it for projects NIWA has subcontracted to Boedeker Scientific, or contracts Boedeker Scientific has subcontracted to NIWA?

The projects you mention are ones where NIWA was the subcontractor – ie carried out the work – but your question states “Please provide a list of all the projects completed by Bodeker Scientific that NIWA has provided partial of full funding for since 2006”.

Thank you for your OIA request. We respond as follows.

Attached the pdfs showing all projects completed by Bodeker Scientific that NIWA has provided partial or full funding for since 2006. Included in these pdfs are the names of the projects and the itemised list of the funds associated with the projects and what the costs were for.

Revenue: Between 2006 to 2023 Bodeker Scientific funded nine projects with NIWA with a total value of $994,357 (excl.GST)
Subcontract: Between 2006 to 2023 NIWA subcontracted to Bodeker Scientific on 34 projects with a total value of $2,210,312 (excl.GST)

Please note, under section 28(3) of the Act, you have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
