Staff numbers & salaries for past 10 years

Liam made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police

The request was partially successful.

From: Liam

Dear New Zealand Police,

Please provide the number of Police staff for the past ten years, split by areas, not just Districts. Please also show non-sworn and sworn officer numbers, if possible.

Further, please provide salary bands for officer ranks, taken from the most recent data. I am only looking for the most recent bands or salaries based on the your rank, for sworn officers.

Finally, in general, what is the ratios of subordinate to supervisor. For example, how many constables to Sergeants, then how many Sergeants to Senior Sergeants and so on.

I am a New Zealand citizen, as required by s12(1) of the OIA 1982.
Yours faithfully,

Liam Stoneley

New Zealand Police

Dear Mr Stoneley

I refer to your Official Information Act request fo 15 January 2015 for
information about the number of sworn officers and non-sworn employees for
each of the last 10 years broken down by Police district.

Pursuant to section 15A of the Official Information Act 1982, I advise you
of the requirement to extend the time limit to respond to your requests.
The period of the extension is until 27 February 2015.

The reason for the extension is that the time required for the
consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a
proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit.

You have the right, under section 28(3) of the Official Information Act
1982, to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision to extend
the time limit for deciding upon your request.

Yours sincerely
