Housing register

Barry Murphy made this Official Information request to Ruapehu District Council

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ruapehu District Council should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Barry Murphy

Dear Ruapehu District Council,

These questions related to people not on the pension, so to working age people under 65 years of age
1./ How are people qualified for council owned social housing?
2./ How do you means test or verify qualified peoples wages or salaries and how often is this reviewed to verify their needs?
3./ Are people put onto the MSD social housing waitlist to ensure government are aware of the need in the district?
4./ Do council advocate for people on RDC social housing list to register on MSD to ensure government are aware of the needs so they can invest in houses in the region?
5./ Those in Council social housing, are they encouraged and required to go on any job seeker program etc if they are unemployed?
6./ What is the average length of time people stay in Council social housing before moving on?
7./ Does council consider its stock of social housing a short term service, a means for people to move into Government state housing or into a rental of their own; or is it a service that once someone has a property from council, they can continue the lease as long as they wish?
8./ Does council consider its stock of social housing an emergency housing (short term gap fill) service?

Yours faithfully,

Barry Murphy
