Does your team police your own rules about naming Trusts as Shareholders?

Matthew Underwood made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Matthew Underwood to read recent responses and update the status.

From: Matthew Underwood

Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

While researching a company structure recently I noticed there were a number of trusts listed as shareholders. The company was No 282201, Archangel Properties Limited, which is associated with another company's seeking funds from the public.

I understand the listing of Trusts as shareholders to be generally not allowed unless those Trusts have specific legal standing such as being registered under the 1957 Charitable Trusts Act. In fact the requirement is that the Trustees of the Trust need to be listed as the shareholders, and there is no absolute evidence that there is a Trust.

Please provide me with the number of Trusts registered as shareholders, perhaps indicating those trusts that are registered under the 1957 Charitable Trusts Act.
Please also provide me with an excel spreadsheet listing the shareholding Trusts and the company name and number of the company that they are a shareholder of.

Yours faithfully,

Matthew Underwood
