Central Otago Airport - connectivity
Simon Richardson made this Official Information request to Christchurch International Airport Limited
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Simon Richardson to read a recent response and update the status.
From: Simon Richardson
Dear Christchurch International Airport Limited,
I saw the ODT article this weekend and then went to your website. I was particularly interested in this page: https://www.centralotagoairport.co.nz/co.... I can see that this page was first published some time ago.
Firstly, your website says “Many of Central Otago’s key sectors of employment require high-quality transport connections to operate successfully.” Please provide all documentation, analysis and data which supports this point and leads you to this conclusion. Please provide detailed modelling you have on file to substantiate this claim.
Secondly, you state that shortage of air capacity will likely result in a) reduced choice, b) longer journey times, c) increased cost and d) higher emissions. Please provide the documentation, data, analysis, including external peer reviewed studies and analysis, which you relied on when making each of these four statements. In respect of these documents, please provide the date each document first appeared within your organisation.
Thank you
Yours faithfully,
Simon Richardson

Dear CIAL Legal Team,
Thank you for your reply.
Referring to section 6 of your letter to me
1) please confirm the date(s) upon which the information I have asked for will be released, and please note that I would expect the entirety of my request to be satisfied by that release of information. If this is not the case, you are still under an obligation to release the information I have asked for. To be clear, I have asked for the background document, analysis and detailed modelling to these claims, not a repetition of these claims or PR statements.
2) Given that you have used section 18(d) here, please note that in relation to the air capacity question, you will provide the following (which I have asked for in this OIA request): the documentation, data, analysis, including external peer reviewed studies and analysis, which you relied on when making each of these four statements. In respect of these documents, please provide the date each document first appeared within your organisation.
Note, this is not a new OIA request. It is a response to your existing response to my request of 20 working days ago.
Yours sincerely,
Simon Richardson

Dear CIAL Legal Team,
I've now had a chance to review the "announcement" material you released this week via your website, including the large pdf document, videos and ancillary papers.
While these documents contain the same or similar claims to what I had previously seen from you, they do not answer my questions, and you have certainly not supplied the documentation, data, analysis which I asked for in this OIA request.
It is my view that you relied on s18(d) of the OIA to avoid answering my question, but now that I can see the information you were referring to, you have still failed to answer my question.
My original question is therefore unanswered. Please do so urgently.
Yours sincerely,
Simon Richardson
