Tēnā koe Ron

Thank you for your email of 12 July 2023, asking for the following
information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):

Please provide any advice to the Minister, Ministry of Health or
internally that discuss options for improving Male life expectancy through
equity adjustment.

This email is to let you know that Te Whatu Ora needs more time to make a
decision on your request.

The Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no
later than 20 working days after the day we received your request.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and we are
therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our
decision, to 8 September 2023. However, we will endeavour to respond as
soon as practicable.

This extension is required because the consultations required to make a
decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably
be made within the original time limit.

If you have any questions, please contact us at [1][Health New Zealand request email].

If you are not happy with this extension, you have the right to make a
complaint to the Ombudsman. Information about how to do this is available
at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or by phoning 0800 802 602.

Nāku iti noa, nā

Liam

Tēnā koe Ron,

Official information request HNZ00025557

Thank you for your email of 12 July 2023, asking for the following
information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):

Please provide any advice to the Minister, Ministry of Health or
internally that discuss options for improving Male life expectancy through
equity adjustment.

On 11 August 2023, we emailed you noting that Te Whatu Ora needed more
time to make a decision on your request hence an extension was granted to
8 September 2023. This extension was required because
the consultations required to make a decision on your request were such
that a proper response could not reasonably be made within the original
time limit.

Unfortunately, after substantive scoping throughout Te Whatu Ora we were
unable to pin point what team could provide you with relevant information
by the extended timeframe. Due to being unsure on whether we could address
your request, we decided that it was not appropriate to provide you with a
decision response on behalf of Te Whatu Ora.

However, this correspondence is to advise you that, after further scoping
and consultation, we have transferred your request in full to Manatū
Hauora Ministry of Health (the Ministry). This is because the information
to which your request relates is not held by Health NZ but is believed to
be more closely connected with the functions of the Ministry. In these
circumstances, we are required by section 14 of the Official Information
Act to transfer your request.

We understand this is not ideal and we sincerely apologise for the delay
in communicating this to you.

You should expect to hear from them in due course about your request. If
you need to get in touch with the Ministry, you can contact them at
[1][email address].

If you are not happy with this response, you have the right to make a
complaint to the Ombudsman. Information about how to do this is available
at [2]ombudsman.parliament.nz or by phoning 0800 802 602.
