Clarification of CEO statement

James made this Official Information request to Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children

The request was successful.

From: James

Dear Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children,

Under the OIA I seek a very simple clarification of the statement and timeframes mentioned by Oranga Tamariki Chief executive Chappie Te Kani. At a press conference Mr Te Kani stated he was “made aware of the allegations over the past week”.
The comments are available for you via recordings by media and have been widely reported by RNZ, SpinOff etc.

Please provide the exact date Mr Te Kani was first made aware of the first allegation of abuse.

Please provide the date Mr Te Kani first contacted the advisor to Minister Davis or anyone in the office or connected to Minister Davis in relation to the first allegation.

Please provide the date when Mr Te Kani was first made aware of the 2nd allegation of abuse.

Please note the dates Mr Te Kani was made aware of the incidents are not material to the Police investigation and rough time frames have already been declared by Mr Davis and and Mr Te Kani.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

James
