On behalf of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment I
acknowledge your email of 21 June 2023 requesting under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following:

“The Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand recently made a ruling
where it determined that it would not protect OUR producers of mânuka
honey, an internationally recognized designation of origin, from illegal
competition from inferior foreign producers.

 

I am requesting all documents and communications held by IPONZ in regards
this despicable decision to privilege foreign corporations over Mâoritanga
and our own hardworking producers of REAL mânuka honey. This should
include all communications with the hostile foreigners in Australia and
elsewhere stealing the good name of our mânuka honey producers.”
