On behalf of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment I
acknowledge your email of 10 June 2023 requesting under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following:

“1) The annual cap until June 2023 is 2,000 visas granted. Today at time
of making this request on 10th June 2023, MBIE shared that as of 8th May
2023, only 19 applications has been approved. Now, assuming each
application had 2 applicants, so total of 38 visas granted! 38 visa
granted out of 2000 visa target! Clearly, the approach is not yielding the
results. I understand all the factors that you have mentioned earlier like
waiting time between ITA sent and application received, reviewing
application etc. However, all of this is anticipated. Can I suggest or in
fact ask if MBEI or INZ considered selecting much larger volume (about
2000) of EOI's in Aug'22 selection to make up for the gap!

 

2) You have already provided me with the numbers in the below format in my
previous FYI application, can I please request the latest numbers for the
table below at the time of response.

 

For Nov'22, Feb'23 and May'23 Queue selections:

 

Number of EOIs selected

Number of applicants represented by the EOI Number of EOIs declined Number
of EOIs withdrawn Number of Invitations to Apply (ITA) sent Number of EOIs
where further information has been requested
