Tēnā koe John,

I am emailing you to clarify the scope of your request of 5 May 2023.

Your request:

o May I kindly request the full copy of all in person event invite the
PM received from 1st March to 1st May.

We consider that your request as it is currently worded is substantial in
nature and is likely to be refused under section 18(f) of the Act, as the
information requested cannot be made available without substantial
collation or research.

To identify documents potentially within scope of your request requires
searching documents held by the Office of the Prime Minister covering over
a 2-month period.  Over that time period the Prime Minister receives a
significant number of invitations (60 a day) and to search for documents
potentially within scope of your request is substantial.

To assist us in responding we are seeking clarification of your request
and suggesting that the request is refined to include invitations received
over a two-day period or invitations received from a specific category
e.g., lobby groups, over a much shorter time period.

We are happy to discuss this email and work together to clarify your
request.

Ngā mihi,

Private Secretary (Executive Support)

Office of the Prime Minister

Authorised by Rt. Hon Chris Hipkins MP, Parliament Buildings, Wellington
