Spy balloons and reconnaissance aircraft
Adam Irish made this Official Information request to New Zealand Defence Force
The request was successful.
From: Adam Irish
Dear New Zealand Defence Force,
I am making a request under the Official Information Act to inquire about the the capabilities of the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) to intercept or bring down spy balloons or reconnaissance aircraft in New Zealand airspace, is it able to currently undertake this task. Additionally, I would like to know if the NZDF has the capability to detect foreign spy objects in New Zealand airspace, like those detected by the USA airforce. Lastly, I would like to know if New Zealand has access to the Australian airforce to bring down an object in New Zealand airspace.
Yours faithfully,
Adam Irish
