Progress on the investigation into the anonymous donations to Len Brown in the past two local body elections
Grace Haden made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police
The request was successful.
From: Grace Haden
Dear New Zealand Police,
In February this year My complaint was forwarded to the police by the Auckland council.
It had been identified that Mayor Brown had received some 3/4 million dollars over the past two elections from the New Auckland council trust .an unidentified body which according to the case law Wilson V Sutton does not have any independent legal existence.
If Mr Brown has received and retained this money from an anonymous source then this is a serious matter of public corruption and he should not remain in office.
If everything is over and above board then the public have a right to know .
It has been nearly a year since the matter was first reported to Auckland council this matter is of public importance and a resolution should be available
Please advise by way of OIA what progress has been made on this matter and if the police have been able to identify who the New Auckland council trust is and the reason for the persons shielding by hind a pseudonym
Yours faithfully,
Grace Haden
