Communications with Auckland Transport about surveillance system

Alex Harris made this Official Information request to Privacy Commissioner

The request was successful.

From: Alex Harris

Dear Privacy Commissioner,

Today Stuff reported that Auckland Transport would be installing a mass-surveillance system which would use Automated number-Plate Recognition to track individuals ("Sophisticated surveillance coming to Auckland", Stuff, 1 oct 2014). Auckland Transport has claimed via its twitter feed (https://twitter.com/AklTransport/status/...) that it is consulting with the Privacy Commissioner about it. I would like to request the following information under the OIA:

* all communications with Auckland Transport about this surveillance system. I'm particularly interested in advice on possible privacy impacts and how to minimise them.

I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about
this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the
fyi.org.nz website.

With regards to s12 of the OIA, I am an NZ citizen and in NZ.

Yours faithfully,

Alex Harris
