Dear Electoral Commission,
On 19 August 2014, Hawke's Bay Today reported that "Napier's MTG has been forced to delay the launch of an exhibition of late MP Whetu Tirikatene-Sullivan's clothing after the Electoral Commission raised concerns the display could influence voters on election day."
I request under the Official Information Act all correspondence between MTG and the Commission on this matter, and in particular any advice and request for advice about compliance with the Electoral Act 1993.

Dear Mrs Beauchamp
You have requested, under the Official Information Act, all correspondence
between MTG and the Electoral Commission on an exhibition of the late MP
Whetu Tirikatene-Sullivan's clothing, and in particular any advice and
request for advice about compliance with the Electoral Act 1993.
Please find attached a copy of an email received by the Electoral
Commission on 18 March 2014 and the advice provided by the Electoral
Commission in response by email dated 19 March 2014.
Personal information has been withheld under section 9(2)(a) of the Act in
order to protect the privacy of natural persons. I am satisfied that
there are no other considerations which render is desirable, in the public
interest, for the information I am withholding to be made available.
You have the right under section 28(3) of the Act to complain to the Ombudsman about the decision to withhold information or if you are not satisfied with the response to your request.

It may pay to send them a followup saying that you are happy for this information to be released after October 4. Section 204I Electoral Act 1993 forbids release of advisory opinions before the return of the writ, and specifically overrides the OIA.
