Good afternoon Mike Hunua,
With respect to your request of 31 August 2022 requesting, under the
Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), the following:
Has Fire and Emergency New Zealand approached the New Zealand Defence
Force to provide any assistance or coverage of Fire and Emergency NZs
response areas during industrial action by the NZ professional
firefighters union and can the correspondents with Fire and Emergency be
released if so.
While the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) received a request for
assistance from Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ), NZDF assistance was
not required during the New Zealand Professional Firefighters’ Union
industrial action on 19 and 26 August 2022. No additional requests for
NZDF assistance have been received from FENZ.
As a result of technical difficulties attaching the signed response and
enclosure, these will be provided as soon as possible. The names and
contact details of operational personnel are withheld in accordance with
section 6(a) of the OIA; the name and contact information of another
member of the NZDF is withheld in accordance with section 9(2)(a) of the
OIA. Where indicated, information concerning NZDF capability is also
withheld in accordance with section 6(a) of the OIA.
You have the right, under section 28(3) of the OIA, to ask an Ombudsman to
review this decision on your request. Information about how to make a
