Interhospital vehicle transport costs by aeromedical providers billed to Te Whatu Ora

Richard James made this Official Information request to Health New Zealand

The request was refused by Health New Zealand.

From: Richard James

Kia ora.

I am seeking information on costs billed to Health New Zealand by aeromedical providers for vehicles supplied for interhospital patient transport. I have been told rotary costs are billed to NASO but fixed wing costs were previously billed to District Health Boards so are now billed to Health New Zealand.

Could you please provide the following information, beginning 1 July 2022:
- The hourly fixed wing transport rate paid to each aircraft provider by Health New Zealand
- The hourly rotary wing transport rate paid to each aircraft provider by Health New Zealand/NASO

If a provider is not paid per hour but a fixed cost per transfer, please provide this cost instead. If there are additional costs paid to aircraft providers by Health New Zealand (standing charges regardless of work done), please provide these costs, listed per provider.

'Aeromedical provider' include any organisation providing fixed or rotary wing services to patients for Health New Zealand. This includes organisations such as NZFDS/Garden City Helicopters, NZAAS/Skyline Aviation, Life Flight, Air Whanganui, Air Nelson, and any other provider of interhospital transport vehicles by air that Health New Zealand have been billed by. 'Interhospital' refers to the transfer of patients between hospitals. Please do not include money paid for prehospital transfers or for any interhospital transfers by road.

Yours faithfully,
Mr. Richard James
