Kia ora Matthew,
I refer to your official information request sent on 29 May 2024
requesting an artist's impression of the design for Botany Station as part
of Stage 3 of the Eastern Busway between Pakuranga and Botany.
Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay in responding to your
request. We have conducted a thorough investigation and are unable to
locate an email request from FYI.
We acknowledge that this would have been incredibly frustrating for you as
you waited for your response.
Unfortunately, the information you requested does not exist. This is
because the design of the ultimate Botany station is not progressed to a
stage where artist impressions have been produced. We are therefore
refusing your request under section 17(e) of the LGOIMA because the
requested document does not exist.
Background information to support query:
· The total Eastern Busway programme funding from Pakūranga to
Botany, termed Option1A, is $1.3 billion, is to be jointly funded by the
Crown, the NZ Transport Agency, and Auckland Council.
· Funding has been confirmed for Stages 2 and 3 of the busways
between Pakūranga and Burswood, and with an on-road connection from
Burswood and along Tī Rākau Drive to Botany. This includes
the flyover above Reeves Road in Pakūranga.
· There will be a delay to building Stage 4 of the busway from Tī
Rākau Drive through Guys Reserve and Whaka Maumahara to Botany, and the
Botany Town Centre Station. Consent is being sought because it is the
preferred design to be delivered when funding is available.
· Until Stage 4 is built, Auckland Transport has funding for the
design and construction of an interim bus route. This will enable buses to
travel in regular vehicle lanes along Tī Rākau Drive and Te Irirangi Drive
to Botany Town Centre bus stops, which will be upgraded. This route will
be in place until funding is confirmed to build the link route and the
future Botany Station. Artist impressions of them will be created at that
time.
· The Eastern Busway Alliance will continue to deliver Stages 2
and 3. It has also run community engagement sessions on the link route of
Stage 4 and prepared consent applications, so that the link route can be
constructed when funding is confirmed.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at

AT has been in touch today to ask for the email address for this request, which I have provided.
I have also checked our logs for this request, and confirmed we had a protocol response from AT's mail server accepting handover of the email message. This means it is likely that an email security or anti-spam system has mistakenly dropped it before delivery to the mailbox.
