Tēna koe Scott

The purpose of this email is to acknowledge receipt of your request, and advise that I will be processing it.

My email to you, dated 17 June 2022, on charging out for information requested, refers.

I must advise however that in accordance with the document 'Charging Guidelines for Official Information Act 1982 requests' (2.2 in particular) on the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) website, it states:

"Where repeated requests from the same source are made in respect of a common subject over intervals of up to 8 weeks, requests after the first should be aggregated for charging purposes."

I have just got off the phone to the MoJ having confirmed that this request is technically request number three from you, namely:
Request 1) dated 9 June. Our acknowledgement of receipt response which included advice that a charge of $722.00 would be made, and mention of an upfront deposit being required;
Request 2) dated 20 June. Your refined request, and
Request 3) dated 20 July. Your current request.

If you wish to carry on with your request, Customs will review the charge quoted above in case it took less hours for us to complete than stated.

Would you please advise your intentions by midday tomorrow (Friday 22 July).

Please acknowledge receipt of this email.

Dear Scott

Extension of request for official information

Thank you for your email to the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs)
dated 20 July 2022, requesting the following information under the
Official Information Act 1982:

·         I would like to make a request for copies of all Privacy Impact
Assessments produced for Joint Border Analytics team initiatives since the
beginning of 2020.

Customs is unable to process your request within the original time frame
because the consultations necessary to make a decision on your request are
such that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made
within the original time limit. Customs is therefore extending the time
frame for a response by an additional 30 working days (counted from 17
August 2022 which was the statutory date it was initially due) pursuant to
section 15A(1)(b) of the Act.

The new due date for your request is 28 September 2022. Customs will
provide a response to you as soon as reasonably practicable and as soon as
it becomes available.

You have the right, by way of complaint to the Office of the Ombudsman
under section 28(3) of the Act, to seek an investigation and review of the
decisions conveyed in this letter.

Yours sincerely
