The request was successful.
From: Erika Whittome
Dear Ministry of Justice,
I understand Worksafe have issued fines as per this FYI for C19 breaches https://fyi.org.nz/request/19650-covid-1....
A business has 28 days to pay these infringement fees; if payment is not made within 28 days a reminder notice may be issued. Infringement fees that remain unpaid are transferred to the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) for collection or further action.
Regarding these unpaid C19 Breach fines:
1. Where the fines have not been collected by Worksafe and the infringement has been transferred to you, please share the budget spent to date on court appearances and legal costs for these fine collection to date.
2. Please share the budget allocated for this financial year for using the courts to attempt to collect these fines.
Yours faithfully,
Erika Whittome

Dear May, Annie,
Are you saying that the DoJ does not track the category of fines it follows up on and takes to court? And that there is no reporting on which fines are followed up on according to category? Eg traffic fines, C19 breaches?
Does that mean you just have a big slush fund to chase fines? Kindly share this amount please as per my OIA and I will assume some of it is used to chase C19 breach fines,
Yours sincerely,
Erika Whittome
