The 14 July 2022 edition of the Dominion Post contained a story about Councillor attendance at briefings. Matthew Tso of the Dominion Post obtained this information from the Hutt City Council before it was sent to Councillors and before the information was made public.

Please advise who within the Council sent this information to Matthew Tso, the date and time it was sent and the method of communication to Matthew Tso.

We refer to your official information request dated 15 July 2022 for the following:
“The 14 July 2022 edition of the Dominion Post contained a story about Councillor attendance at briefings. Matthew Tso of the Dominion Post obtained this information from the Hutt City Council before it was sent to Councillors and before the information was made public. Please advise who within the Council sent this information to Matthew Tso, the date and time it was sent and the method of communication to Matthew Tso."

Hutt City Council has not supplied Matthew Tso with information about councillor attendance at briefings or meetings. Accordingly, your request for this information is refused under section 17(g) of the LGOIMA.

We do advise you that mayor and councillor attendance records are publicly available information. They are published in our annual reports and also on our website (see www.huttcity.govt.nz/council/council-mee...).

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this response. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
