This request is motivated solely by myself and for my own personal interest.
Please provide the following entrance information for both Bachelor of Optometry and Bachelor of Medical Imaging(hons) from applicants applying under the Regional Rural Admissions Scheme for admission into the University of Auckland.
Please include information on applicants under the RRAS category from first year students of both University of Auckland and University of Otago from years 2018-2021
1. Number of applicants.
2. Number of applicants offered interviews
3. Number of seats filled each year
4. Lowest core GPA for successful applicants
5. Lower quartile core GPA for successful applicants
6. Median core GPA for successful applicants
7. Upper quartile core GPA for successful applicants
8. Highest core GPA for unsuccessful applicants
9. Interview core GPA cut-off

I refer to your request of 11 July 2022.
“5. Lower quartile core GPA for successful applicants”
“7. Upper quartile core GPA for successful applicants”
Your requests for GPA quartiles are refused under section 18(g) of the
OIA, as this information is not held by the University and the OIA does
not require us to create it.
The University has decided to provide the other information requested,
subject to the need to withhold some data relating to very small groups of
students to protect their privacy under section 9(2)(a) of the OIA. The
University will provide this information as soon as reasonably
practicable.
You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are
dissatisfied with this response.

Dear Veda,
Further to my email of 9 August 2022, please see attached the information
which the University decided to provide in response to your request.
To avoid doubt, as stated in Note 1: “"Successful" refers to all
applicants who received an offer of place, whether or not the offer was
accepted.” This means, for example, that for the BOptom 2021 RRAS
applicants in the Auckland (Undergraduate) category, where the lowest
successful GPA was 5.7 and there were three applicants who accepted offers
and took up places in the BOptom, that 5.7 is not necessarily the lowest
GPA of those three applicants who took up places, but 5.7 is the lowest
GPA out of those applicants who were offered places.
