Violations of OIA
Andrew Li made this Official Information request to Nanaia Mahuta
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Nanaia Mahuta should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Andrew Li
Dear Nanaia Mahuta,
On April 23 I made an incredibly simple request in regards statements issued by MFAT in support of zionist terror attacks on the Palestinian people on the MFAT twitter.
After initial entirely unjustified but potentially legal delays, your office illegally delayed its response still further, after the initial 20 working day period where it could have been legal, and then not even meeting the new (illegal) deadline before sending a 'response' where a number of entirely unjustified redactions were made- https://fyi.org.nz/request/19199/respons...
Most grotesquely, the responsible parties even falsely claimed that PUBLIC SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS needed to be redacted under section 6a- claiming that screenshots of PUBLICALLY AVAILABLE SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS could "prejudice the security or defence of New Zealand or the international relations of the Government of New Zealand".
I will of course be following up your criminal violations of the OIA with the Ombudsman. Separately, as a new request, I am seeking the communications involved in the decision to make these flagrantly illegal redactions on page 1 through page 7 of your (illegally late) response.
Yours faithfully,
Andrew Li
