Covid 19 Orange Setting & Asymptomatic Transmission
Chris McCashin made this Official Information request to Chris Hipkins
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Chris McCashin to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Chris McCashin
Dear Chris Hipkins,
On 24 May New Zealand announced that they would remain at the orange setting citing a number of reasons including but not limited to
- A rise in Omicron infections
- New strains of cold and flu to remain cautious
- Likelihood of secondary wave of cases appearing
I quote you also mentioned "Self isolation, vaccination and mask wearing continue to be our main defenses against Covid-19. People will continue to be required to wear a face mask in many indoor settings". Further you go on to state
"It is encouraging to see case numbers remain steady, but there are other factors at play that tell us to remain cautious and not yet move to green. Illnesses such as the flu were expected to add to the workload of hospitals that were already busy".
Are you able to provide all of the reporting, recommendations, cabinet papers, supporting data / modelling completed that saw this government continue to curtail healthy law abiding New Zealand citizens rights. Can you also specifically provide the reporting whereby "other illnesses" are now considered as factors relating to Covid-19 restrictions and specifically laws / legal authority whereby the common flu now is taken into account to restrict New Zealanders going about their business.
With regard to your quote that mask wearing is considered protection against Covid-19. The Ministry of Health twitter account (@minhealthnz) recently dispensed the following advice:
"Kia ora, if you have taken a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) after recently recovering from COVID-19, it will likely show as positive — but this does not mean you are infectious." (https://twitter.com/minhealthnz/status/1...)
Similar advice is found on the Ministry of Health website:
"In contrast, some people continue to test positive even after they feel well and are no longer infectious. If you’re isolating after a positive RAT, there’s no need to test again at end of the seven-day isolation period - but remember to stay home if you still have symptoms."
Finally, in the interim clinical guidance there is reference to "Persistently positive RAT from previous infection", although this advice acknowledges that this is less likely to occur with NAAT./PCR
The above statements seem to support silenced doctors assertions early on in the piece that there is no asymptomatic spread of the virus. Please provide all of the data, reporting and associated documentation that support this governments advice that after recovering you are not infectious.
To be fair, I agree with the above statement but that now means our country was bankrupted, locked down, forced jabbed on incorrect information from the beginning. And masks, unless you are sick are pointless.
Please also provide all of the supporting documents that were used to implement the draconian Covid-19 laws that specifically relate to transmitting the virus when you do not have symptons.
There are a few things to unpack here and I can't quite workout if our government hate their citizens, are trying to ruin the country on purpose, think we are stupid, believe the 24/7 propoganda campaign has worked on everyone, has sold us out to foreign interests, incompetent or all of the above. I suspect it is the last comment here. However I look forward to receiving all of the above information.
Yours faithfully,
Chris

Tēnā koe Chris,
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act) to the Office of Hon Chris Hipkins (the Office) on 2 June 2022 for:
“Are you able to provide all of the reporting, recommendations, cabinet
papers, supporting data / modelling completed that saw this government
continue to curtail healthy law abiding New Zealand citizens rights.
Can you also specifically provide the reporting whereby "other illnesses"
are now considered as factors relating to Covid-19 restrictions and
specifically laws / legal authority whereby the common flu now is taken
into account to restrict New Zealanders going about their business.
The above statements seem to support silenced doctors assertions early on
in the piece that there is no asymptomatic spread of the virus. Please
provide all of the data, reporting and associated documentation that
support this governments advice that after recovering you are not
infectious.
Please also provide all of the supporting documents that were used to
implement the draconian Covid-19 laws that specifically relate to
transmitting the virus when you do not have symptons.”
We are contacting you in accordance with section 18B of the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act) as your request, as it is currently worded,
is for a very large volume of information. Your request may be refused
under section 18(f) of the Act as the information requested cannot be made
available without substantial collation or research.
If it is possible for you to narrow the scope of your request by
specifying a shorter time frame or specifying a topic, we may be able to
provide you with information.
The Office proposes the following refinements to these parts of your
request:
“Are you able to provide all of the reporting, recommendations, cabinet
papers, supporting data / modelling completed that saw this government
continue to curtail healthy law abiding New Zealand citizens rights.”
We are unsure which of the Office’s work you are referring to in this part
of your request. We assume that you are referring to the Minister’s
COVID-19 response, based on your previous interest in this topic. If you
could clarify and identify a more particular facet of the Minister’s
COVID-19 response you are interested in, we can consider your refinement
in our response to your request. Please also limit your request to a
particular time period.
“Please also provide all of the supporting documents that were used to
implement the draconian Covid-19 laws that specifically relate to
transmitting the virus when you do not have symptons.”
We are unsure which legislation, regulation, order or other form of
ordinance you are referring to. If you could clarify and identify a
specific piece of law, we can consider your refinement in our response to
your request. You could do this by providing a link to a document or the
Ministry of Health’s website.
Please respond by 17 June so that we can consider your refinement in our
response to your request.
Please note any clarification or amendment of a request is considered to
be a new request for the purpose of calculating the maximum statutory
timeframe for response—see section 15(1AA) of the Official Information
Act.
We look forward to receiving your response.
