Dear Emma Coats,
Thanks for the notice. As you're n o doubt aware, there's an election coming up, and it would be useful to see this information released publicly so that voters can assess the government's proposed policy. Is there any chance of some information being able to be released, while that requiring collation is delayed? Alternatively, if I reduce the scope of the request, could it be processe din a timely manner?
Yours sincerely,
Alex Harris

Good morning Alex
If you would like to reduce the scope of your request, that may speed up
the process. However 'may' is the operative word; it is difficult for me
to make any promises at this stage without knowing how you might reduce
the scope of the request.
Sorry I can't be any clearer.
Yours sincerely

Dear Emma Coats,
I'm happy to reduce scope to cabinet papers and formal briefings from the department. That should be a limited number of documents which do not require substantial collation.
Please let me know if this will result in a timely response.
Yours sincerely,
Alex Harris

Dear Emma Coats,
Your extended deadline has passed. Will I be receiving a response any time soon, or do I have to go to the Ombudsman?

From: Alex Harris
Dear Minister of Police,
On 5 August 2014 I filed an OIA request with your predecessor, Anne Tolley (full details here: https://fyi.org.nz/request/1870-advice-o...) The request was extend until 2 October, but the staff member handling it appears to have been replaced during the change of Ministers. I'm wondering whether I'll be receiving a response, or whether I need to go to the Ombudsman.
Yours faithfully,
Alex Harris

Following the recent appointment of ministers, I've changed the Minister of Police address to go to Hon Michael Woodhouse. Send a reply, make sure to choose to send it to "the main OIA contact address", and point out that this is an existing request initiated under the previous minister.
