Alex Harris made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment
The request was partially successful.
From: Alex Harris
Dear Minister of Immigration,
Today the government banned the band "Odd Future" from entering New Zealand under sections 1691)(a)(iii) and (iv) of the Immigration Act 2009 ("Odd Future refused entry to New Zealand", NZ Herald, 13 Feb 2014). I would like to request the following information under the OIA:
* All advice on the refusal of entry to "Odd Future"
I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the fyi.org.nz website.
With regards to s12 of the OIA, I am an NZ citizen and in NZ.
Yours faithfully,
Alex Harris

Dear Minister of Immigration,
According to the Ombudsman's online calculator, a response to this OIA request was due yesterday. Will I be getting one soon, or do I have to go to the Ombudsman?
Yours faithfully,

From: Albert Hanson
Dear Alex Harris,
Thank you for your email and apologies for the delay in our response.
As Hon Nathan Guy is no longer the Minister of Immigration, the OIA request should not have been to his email as a Minister.
Today, the 18th of March, I have notified the Office of the current Minister of Immigration, Hon Michael Woodhouse. They have advised that this request is most suitably directed to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) for a response, as the instruction not to board Odd Future came following an operational decision made by MBIE officials.
You can expect a response to your request directly from MBIE.
Kind regards,
Albert Hanson

Dear Albert Hanson,
Thanks for the response. The problem seems to have been on FYI's end, but I am curious though as to why you did not transfer this request when it was initially received, in accordance with s14 OIA.
Yours sincerely,
Alex Harris
