Tēna koe Heather,

Thank you for your email of 26 January 2022 to the Ministry of Education
requesting the following information:

Please provide the risk assessment carried for teaching staff to support
the Pfizer mandate with reference to the toxicity reported in the Pfizer
safety data sheet.

Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982
(the Act).

The need for the COVID-19 vaccine, and the legislation mandating
vaccination for workers in specified settings, is Government policy, not a
function of the Ministry of Education. The Ministry’s role is to implement
Cabinet’s decisions and the resulting legislation as they relate to the
education sector, and risk assessment of the Pfizer vaccine is not part of
that implementation role. I am therefore refusing your request under
section 18(e) of the Act, as the document alleged to contain the
information requested does not exist.

Information on the assessment and approval of vaccines can be found on the
Ministry of Health’s website here: [1]COVID-19: Assessing and approving
the vaccines | Ministry of Health NZ.

Thank you again for your email. You have the right to ask an Ombudsman to
review this decision. You can do this by writing to
[2][email address] or Office of the Ombudsman, PO Box 10152,
Wellington 6143.

Thanks
