Risk Assessment for Pfizer Mandate

Heather Darby made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health

Ministry of Health did not have the information requested.

From: Heather Darby

Dear Ministry of Health,

Please provide the risk assessment carried out for all school staff (i.e. teachers, teacher aids, support workers, IT techs etc. at primary, intermediate and high schools) to support the Pfizer mandate with reference to the toxicity reported in the Pfizer safety data sheet.
https://safetydatasheets.pfizer.com/Dire...
The risk assessment would have needed to identify and list the hazards; list the risk controls; list additional controls; and give a risk rating (i.e., calculate the level of risk by finding the intersection between the likelihood and the consequences).

Yours faithfully,

Heather Darby

Ministry of Health

I submitted a FOI request to the MoH on Jan 26th 2022:
https://fyi.org.nz/request/18326-risk-as...
Please provide the risk assessment carried for teaching staff to support the Pfizer mandate with reference to the toxicity reported in the Pfizer safety data sheet.
https://safetydatasheets.pfizer.com/Dire...

I was asked for clarification and responded on Jan 28th 2022:
Please provide the risk assessment carried out for TEACHING STAFF (teachers, teacher aids, librarians aka anyone who works at a school).
A risk assessment would identify and list the hazards; list the risk controls for the hazards, list the risk ratings for the hazards; and possibly list additional controls for the hazards. The Pfizer safety data sheet would have to have been taken into consideration when comparing the hazards.

On 15 Feb, the MoH replied:
The Ministry of Health does not hold any information relating to your request; however, I have been advised that this information may be held by the Ministry of Education (MOE) For this reason, the Ministry of Health has decided to transfer your request to MOE under section 14 of the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). You can expect a response from
MOE in due course.

Ministry of Education

I submitted a FOI request to the MoE on Jan 26th 2022
https://fyi.org.nz/request/18325-risk-as...
Please provide the risk assessment carried for teaching staff to support the Pfizer mandate with reference to the toxicity reported in the Pfizer safety data sheet.
https://safetydatasheets.pfizer.com/Dire...

On Feb 3rd, the MoE replied:
The need for the COVID-19 vaccine, and the legislation mandating vaccination for workers in specified settings, is Government policy, not a function of the Ministry of Education. The Ministry’s role is to implement Cabinet’s decisions and the resulting legislation as they relate to the education sector, and risk assessment of the Pfizer vaccine is not part of
that implementation role. I am therefore refusing your request under section 18(e) of the Act, as the document alleged to contain the information requested does not exist.

On Feb 4th I replied:
Thank you for your detailed response.
Kindly direct me to the government department which would have the information.

On Feb 4th, I received this response:
Thank you for your email, as noted in the response, further information on the assessment and approval of vaccines can be found on the Ministry of Health’s website so we would recommend contacting Ministry of Health for further information.
