Informed Consent #22 - Definition of Vaccination

Annie Weston made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Health should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Annie Weston

Dear Ministry of Health,

The US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) keeps changing their definition of vaccination eg:

Vaccination pre 2015: “Injection of a killed or weakened infectious organism in order to prevent the disease.”

Vaccination 2015-2021: “The act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce immunity to a specific disease”.

Vaccination 01 September 2021: “The act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce protection from a specific disease.”

Please note that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the first approval of a Covid-19 vaccine on 23 August 2021, seven days before the CDC changed their definition.

Question please:

What is the NZ Govt’s current definition of a vaccine and vaccination?

Yours faithfully,

Annie Weston
