Informed Consent #13 - Death of kids

Annie Weston made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health

The request was refused by Ministry of Health.

From: Annie Weston

Dear Ministry of Health,

One of your OIA responders recently stated in public that:

“As approximately 90 percent of the people in New Zealand over the age of 12 have now received at least one dose of the Comirnaty vaccine, there is a high probability that anyone who has an illness or condition in New Zealand will have been vaccinated.”

Question please:

What is the official informed Govt probability on death of kids, under the age of 12, whether or not they have an illness or condition, after taking the vaccine.

I understand the information you give is not proof or opinion or a comment on a statement.

I understand that you can’t give an opinion, a comment, or answer a hypothetical statement.

I would just like a percentage of the number of kids under 12 who you think will die after taking the vaccine please.

Yours faithfully,

Annie Weston

Kia ora Annie,

Thank you for your latest email.

As the Ministry has previously advised there is no requirement under the
Official Information Act for the agencies to respond to provide or prove
an opinion, or in this case, answer hypothetical questions. The Act does
not support requests where a hypothetical statement or leading question is
put to an agency couched as a request for official information.
Therefore, this request is refused under section 18(g) on the grounds that
the information is not held.

The Act is designed to allow people to ask for information.  It is not a
vehicle to engage in a debate about the Government’s response to the
COVID-19 pandemic or the vaccination programme. There are other valid
methods to express your opinions – petitions, letters/emails to the editor
of media outlets or MPs, blog posts and commentary on social media. Should
you continue to ask similar leading questions, such requests may be
refused under section 18(h) as vexatious.

Under section 28(3) of the Official Information Act you have the right to
ask the Ombudsman to review any decisions made under this request. The
Ombudsman may be contacted by email at: [1][email address] or
by calling 0800 802 602.

From: Annie Weston

Dear Ministry of Health,

Again I was hoping that I could get accurate information from the single source of truth as no one manning your call centres can my answer my questions.

I genuinely hoped that you'd be abreast of studies coming in from overseas that show eg:

"An investigation of official ONS data has revealed that since the Covid-19 vaccine was offered and administered to kids in England and Wales there has been a 54% rise in deaths among male children compared to the same period in 2020."

It's important parents are informed and not mis-informed - it would be abhorrent if even one child in NZ dies from a vaccine when it's unlikely a healthy child will die from Covid-19.

Yours faithfully,

Annie Weston
