Source of information for Chart on RNZ article 16/11/2021

Helen Wallis made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health

The request was refused by Ministry of Health.

From: Helen Wallis

Dear Ministry of Health,

I am requesting the data set that you have used to make the chart supplied to RNZ for their article on the 16/11 which compares the number of vaccinated/un-vaccinated people in regards to cases, hospitalizations and deaths.

I am also requesting any and documentation given to the Prime Minister and or her cabinet about vaccinating teachers to protect our children.
It seems contradictory to the statement in the Vaccine TAG Tuesday 2 November 2021 which stated and I quote " The benefit risk ratio was not as obvious for this group (5-11) as for older populations, as COVID-19 presents as a mild disease in this age group and there appears to be an increased risk of myocarditis after vaccination in younger age groups"

Yours faithfully,
Helen Wallis

Tēnā koe Helen

Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act) to the Ministry of Health (the Ministry) on 16 November 2021 for
information regarding COVID-19. A response to each part of your request is
outlined below.

I am requesting the data set that you have used to make the chart supplied
to RNZ for their article on the 16/11 which compares the number of
vaccinated/un-vaccinated people in regards to cases, hospitalizations and
deaths.

The Ministry regualary publishes data on our website regading cases
hospitalisations and deaths. Many of the media groups create their own
tables and visual aids based on the publicly availible information on our
website.  You may be interested in the folloing links:

o [2]https://www.health.govt.nz/news-media/ne...
o Please be advised, the Ministry is currently undergoing an update to
enhance its reporting processes for those cases that have required
hospital level care. This work is due to be completed by the end of
January. If you would like to make a request for updated information,
we encourage you to do so then.

I am also requesting any and documentation given to the Prime Minister and
or her cabinet about vaccinating teachers to protect our children.

It seems contradictory to the statement in the Vaccine TAG Tuesday 2
November 2021 which stated and I quote " The benefit risk ratio was not as
obvious for this group (5-11) as for older populations, as COVID-19
presents as a mild disease in this age group and there appears to be an
increased risk of myocarditis after vaccination in younger age groups

The Ministry does not provide information directly to the Prime Minister
or Cabinet. All information is directed through the appropriate Minister.
Additonally, while the Act allows people in New Zealand to ask for
information, there is no obligation under the Act for agencies subject to
it to create new information, compile information they do not hold, or
provide or prove an opinion. Asking the Ministry to comment on a statement
by te CVTAG, or provide information to prove its validity is not a request
for official information.  Therefore your request is refused under section
18(g) on the grounds that the information is not held by the Ministry.

Under section 28(3) of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to
review any decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be
contacted by email at: [4][email address] or by calling 0800

From: Helen Wallis

Dear OIA Requests,

The scope is defined before each section.

Please focus this section on the communication to the minister of health and Director general of health. for the last two months leading up to the vaccination mandate for teachers.

I would like to amend it to I am requesting any and all (including but not
limited to) documentation, communication, notes, emails, online meetings
minutes and meeting minutes provided by any and all persons involved with
the Ministry of Health (including but not limited to employee, advisor,
recipient of information) to the Minister of
health and/or the Director general of health about the effect (benefits,
risks, social consequences, loss of staff etc) of vaccinating teachers to
protect children.

Please focus the following on the the time period 1st October 2021 - 31 December 2021. Please ensure that all information from all time frames are included regarding the benefit to risk is discussed for children aged 5-11

I am also requesting any and all (including but not limited to) studies
made, research funded, documentation, communication, notes, emails, online
meetings minutes and meeting minutes provided by any and all persons
involved with the Ministry of Health (including but not limited to
employee, advisor, recipient of information) to the Minister of Health
and/or the Director general of health about the effect of vaccinating
children in all age groups from 0 -18 years.

The following section need not be refined as I imagine there is a summary already made.

I would like to request any and all (including but not limited to)
documentation, communication, notes, emails, online meetings minutes and
meeting minutes received from or sent to the New Zealand Medical council
in regards to what doctors and medical staff may and may not do, say,
advise, prescribe, or question in regards to Covid 19: in general,
treatment thereof (pre and post infection), vaccination, natural immunity
generated.

Omicron is relatively new therefore a time frame doesn't make sense.

I would also like to request any and all (including but not limited to)
documentation, communication, notes, emails, online meetings minutes and
meeting minutes that the MoH has in regards to the omicron variant of
covid 19.

Yours sincerely,

Helen Wallis
