Please provide me with the number reported co-morbidities per
hospitisation/death (eg. 2,3,1,2,3 to not give reference to a date and or
patient) and a non patient specific list of these co-morbidities to not
break patient confidentiality.
If these are too specific then a total number per month is also
acceptable.”
The Ministry of Health has decided to extend the period of time available
to respond to your request under section 15A of the Official Information
Act 1982 (the Act) as further consultation is required, the request is for
a large quantity of official information and necessitates a search through
a large quantity of information.
You can now expect a response to your request on, or before, 21 February
2022.
Please note that this includes the holiday shutdown period laid out in the
Act from 25 December 2021 to 15 January 2022.

Dear OIA Requests,
i submitted these two requests separately as they are two different sets of information. Please respond separately to each.
I also call into question a delay of over two months for you to provide me with this information.
This information is surely held on hand as you publish this information on your website and it is reasonable to expect that this information should be kept as up to date as possible.
As an example if a company was to be using your website to source information for a Health and Safety risk assessment and were looking to keep themselves up to date with the official government (the government declared that the only reliable data and evidence will come from them as a source) information as they are required to in the HSAW Act 2015 then they would be expecting to see the latest information.
Also you obviously want to keep the NZ public up to date with the latest information as it is relevant for a whole variety of reasons including effecting the Bill of rights, human rights, decisions effecting a persons health, mental health, family decisions, family planning, unemployment, the roll out of vaccines to 5-11 year olds etc.
Based on this I don't see how there needs to be a large search for information. I am only requesting documents that you should have, not requesting any new documents to be constructed.
In regards to the information about the breakdown of vaccinated/unvaccinated hospitalizations and co-morbidities I do not believe that this is information that you do not have to hand as this is information presented regularly, if in redacted form, to the public during the information releases that you make on a regular basis.
I request that you review your delay and respond as soon as reasonably practicable. If you wish to maintain the delay please give a full disclosure explanation for each question as to why the delay is necessary including the limiting factors etc.
Again as a final request please respond to these requests separately.
Yours sincerely,
Helen Wallis

The Ministry continues to improve on its reporting of national
hospitalisation data related to COVID-19. Initially that will involve
comprehensive reporting of all cases in hospital with COVID-19 for the
Northern region – Northland DHB and the three Auckland metro DHBs. This
can be used as an early indicator of demand on our hospitals. We expect
to begin this in February 2022.
Subsequently we will be reconciling those figures with discharge data and
supplementing our reporting to reflect those in hospital with a primary
cause of COVID-19 for the Northern region. We expect to start this is
March. Over time similar reporting for other regions will be added to the
national reporting.
The Ministry will be updating death data on our website in due course.
Under section 28(3) of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to
review any decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be
contacted by email at: [16][email address] or by calling 0800
802 602.
