We refer to your information request dated 21 September 2021 made under the Official Information Act (Act). You have requested correspondence between Professor Michael Baker and the World Socialist Web Site and International Committee of the Fourth International since 1 January 2020.
The Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the day we received your request. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit. We are therefore writing to notify you, pursuant to section 15A of the Act, of an extension of the time to make our decision in respect of your request, by a further ten working days - to 3 November 2021.
This extension is necessary to allow for consultations necessary to make a decision on your request. We will endeavour to provide the information sooner if possible.
If you are not satisfied with our extension of time, you have the right to make a complaint to the Ombudsman under section 28(3) of the Act. However, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you first.

Kia ora Mr Baker
We refer to your information request dated 21 September 2021 made under the Official Information Act (Act). You have requested all correspondence received and sent between Professor Michael Baker and the World Socialist Web Site and International Committee of the Fourth International, in each case since 1 January 2020.
Please see attached copies of the information we hold within scope of your request. Some of the documents attached are technically not within scope of your request - as it is not correspondence with the World Socialist Web Site or International Committee of the Fourth International. However, for transparency we are providing the documents to you as it relates to the webinar which was hosted by World Socialist Web Site and that Professor Baker spoke at.
For privacy reasons we have redacted some of the names and contact details of other individuals referred to in the documents. We have also redacted some personal statements made by Mr North (and not by World Socialist Web Site or International Committee of the Fourth International). These statements do not relate to Professor Baker or the webinar that he presented. We withhold this information pursuant to section 9(2)(a) of the Act. We consider that good reasons exist for withholding this information and this is not outweighed by other considerations which would make it desirable, in the public interest, to make the information available. As noted, the information redacted do not relate to Professor Baker or the webinar that he presented.
We note your right to seek a review of these decisions via a complaint to an Ombudsman. However, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you first.
Ngâ mihi
