if he agrees that is the better option for them?
Like johnson or novavax that has even less sidee effects.

Thank you for your email.
Before a COVID-19 vaccine can be used in New Zealand, Cabinet must agree
on a ‘decision to use’. The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine (Comirnaty) is the
only vaccine that Cabinet has approved for use in New Zealand. While no
decisions have been made to date about the use of the Janssen vaccine in
New Zealand, we recognise that there may be merit in providing a different
vaccine for those individuals unable to, or hesitant to take an mRNA-based
vaccine.
Furthermore, the Novavax vaccine is not currently approved for use in New
Zealand.
Medsafe is New Zealand’s own medicines safety authority. They robustly
assess all vaccines to ensure they meet international standards and local
requirements for quality and safety. If you would like to check the
approval of any COVID-19 vaccines in New Zealand, you can do so on
Medsafe's website here: [1]Approval Status of COVID Vaccines Applications
Received by Medsafe.
As you can see on the website linked above, Medsafe is currently assessing
the application for the Novavax vaccine with some data under evaluation
and further data to be provided by the sponsor. We recommend that you
continue checking the link above for further updates.
Medsafe approval is one step in the process for accessing a COVID-19
vaccine. Once approved, Cabinet then considers advice and makes decisions
on when and for who a particular vaccine will be used as part of the
COVID-19 immunisation programme. If or when Cabinet approves a 'decision
for use', this would determine how the Novavax vaccine would be used in
New Zealand. If the Novavax vaccine is regulated for use by Medsafe, and
Government decides to use this vaccine in New Zealand, we expect Novavax
delivery in early 2022.

Dear Sir/Madam
I have been monitoring the media and also called the Health Line many times to stay informed about the proposed rollout of the Johnson vaccine. I have a preference for that vaccine because I have many allergies, as the Johnson vaccine makes use of traditional components. Now that the desired vaccination rates will be achieved with the Pfizer vaccine, I am concerned that the Johnson rollout will no longer happen, and that I can no longer get it.
I am not a permanent resident but a guest through lockdown in your country and do not want to impose on the government in any way if I can help it.
So my questions are:
1) will you please inform me of the intended rollout of the Johnson , that seems to be listed as approved on medsafe website, or (even better) novavax vaccine?
2) in the event that the rollout will not occur or not in a timely manner will you please send me a letter granting me permission to
a) source either one vaccine from a hospital abroad, so they know I'm not doing anything illegal,
b) that can be sent to DHL so they can easily and quickly get the vaccine through customs
and to
c) show to the GP that is going to administer the vaccine that this is authorised?
It is my intent to source it at my own expense.
I know that you have measures in place that allow one to obtain a letter stating that one cannot have the vaccine on medical conditions, but that would not give me protection against the virus, which is what I am really looking for, especially because I need to be vaccinated for travel from NZ in any case.

Thank you for your follow up email and for relaying your concerns.
Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccines has received provisional approval
from Medsafe, however, as you know, a decision from Cabinet is still
required before it can be rolled out for use. The Government is
considering the use of Janssen in New Zealand.
While no decisions have been made to date about the use of the AstraZeneca
or Janssen COVID-19 vaccines in New Zealand, we recognise that there may
be merit in providing a different vaccine for those individuals unable to
receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
The Ministry is unable to provide any further information at present,
however, the public will be made aware when alternative vaccines are
available for use.
The advice for individuals is that a slightly increased risk of a severe
allergic response in individuals who have had a previous anaphylaxis-type
reaction needs to be balanced against the risk of COVID-19 exposure and
severe COVID‑19.
These individuals can still receive mRNA-CV and observation extended to 30
minutes after vaccination in health care settings, where anaphylaxis can
be immediately treated with adrenaline.

On 4 February 2022, New Zealand medicines regulator Medsafe granted
provisional approval of the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine for adults 18 years
and over.
Medsafe’s provisional approval is only one step of the process. Ministers
will have to consider advice from the Ministry of Health and the COVID-19
Vaccine Technical Advisory Group (CV-TAG) about whether to use the Novavax
vaccine in New Zealand. Following CV-TAG advice and pending Cabinet’s
decision to use, officials are working with Novavax to establish delivery
options as early as Q1 2022
At this time, we are unable to provide you with an expected timeframe for
the use of the Novavax vaccine in New Zealand.

Thank you for your email.
You might be aware that on 28 February 2022, Cabinet has approved the use
of Novavax for people aged 18 and above. The first doses are anticipated
to arrive in New Zealand this month and officials are working with Novavax
to confirm the delivery schedule and rollout start date.
In the meantime, work is underway to prepare for the use of Novavax in the
immunisation programme. This includes workforce training and ensuring
logistics measures are in place to ensure that those who want to be
vaccinated with the Novavax vaccine will have this option.
Under section 28(3) of the Act you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to
review any decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be

Thank you for your follow up email.
On 4 February 2022, New Zealand medicines regulator Medsafe granted
provisional approval of the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine for adults 18 years
and over.
Medsafe’s provisional approval is only one step of the process. Ministers
will have to consider advice from the Ministry of Health and the COVID-19
Vaccine Technical Advisory Group (CV-TAG) about whether to use the
Novavax
vaccine in New Zealand. Following CV-TAG advice and pending Cabinet’s
decision to use, officials are working with Novavax to establish delivery
options as early as Q1 2022
At this time, we are unable to provide you with an expected timeframe for
the use of the Novavax vaccine in New Zealand.
