COVID-19 monitoring reports for August 2021 outbreak

Scott made this Official Information request to Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet

The request was successful.

From: Scott

Dear Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,

I would like to make a request for copies of all DPMC COVID-19 monitoring reports, dated since the beginning of August.

For clarity, I am asking for copies of the type of report I received in response to a request I made to DPMC earlier this year, e.g. this report dated 22 September 2020:

https://fyi.org.nz/request/14684/respons...

As stated in the above document, the function of these reports was to “monitor the effects of Alert Level (AL) measures on New Zealand, in order to evaluate their effectiveness, highlight vulnerabilities and inform the requirement for changes in AL or overall strategy.” In the event that these COVID-19 monitoring reports are no longer generated, then I would like my request to be taken to mean copies of any DPMC reports that serve this function, dated since the beginning of August.

Yours faithfully,

Scott

Dear DPMC,

Thank you for this response, although I am concerned to note that you seem to have changed your approach to redacting a certain part of these documents since your 1 November response to my initial request.

For instance, comparing page 41 of your first response document (3 September report "Protests and Disinformation" section) and page 12 of your second response (8 September report "Compliance" section) shows that the latter is much more heavily redacted, although clearly the two cover the same topic. This is the case for every section covering this topic in your second response.

Are you able to please advise me why your approach has changed? If not, I will refer this to the Ombudsman to check if the redactions in the latter documents are appropriate.

In the meantime, I would like to make a follow up request. I would like to request:

Copies of all COVID-19 Across Government Situation Reports, dated since the beginning of November.

Yours sincerely,

Scott
