Archivist's policy to assess compliance with record keeping requirements under the Public Records Act 2005

John Creser made this Official Information request to Archives New Zealand Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Archives New Zealand Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: John Creser

Dear Archives New Zealand Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga,

Thank you for your reply to my last request and your advice that; "Archives New Zealand expects that the records that are created and maintained by regulated parties are, therefore, accurate by default."

If all government records are automatically presumed compliant with statutory requirements,- "what legislative threshold does your office require to commence a prosecution for breaches of the Public Records Act or s258 of the Crimes Act that provides altering, concealing, destroying, or reproducing documents with intent to deceive is an offence?

Would your office consider a public record concealed by government employee in 2015 to be an offence against the PR Act

Yours faithfully,

John Creser
