Is the MSD Fraud a law enforcement agency unit? What happen if the MSD Fraud Investigation Team never take any action against a benefit fraud?

Sophie made this Official Information request to Ministry of Justice

Ministry of Justice did not have the information requested.

From: Sophie

Dear Ministry of Justice,

First of all, can the MSD Fraud Investigation Team be considered as a law enforcement agency? Is it obligated to enforce the law or policies against people who are dishonest in benefit applications?

There are some apparent benefit frauds happening around us that any average person would be able to notice they are benefit frauds.

Nevertheless, sometimes the MSD Fraud Investigation Team never takes any action after sufficient evidence has been submitted.

What can people do if the MSD fails to enforce the law, ignoring law breakers?

Yours faithfully,

Sophie
